Just Keeps Getting Prettier (& Wetter)

The Office got pretty excited when Costa Rica advanced in the
World Cup in Brazil.

Here we are training the Local Leaders at the Toyopan Stake

Christina and Jimena attended our Workshop at
Paraiso.  Members for 6 months. Came to breakfast one morning.

The church is undergoing a major building phase here.  This is
the new Chapel in San Ramon (Alajuela) here with our hair
stylist Beatice Callejas

In Puntarenas (Barrancas) with friends
of Melanie's. They were very kind to her when she served here & to us now. Branch President
Renoldo Vargas and wife Ruth and her sister Anita and
husband Stephen Espinosa

William Cervantes, now living in Cartagena.
 Taught the gospel by Melanie
& her companion,in Asseri  2001.He & Kennia, his wife were baptized back then.
   He built this TONKA truck!

El Sabernero EcoLodge, by Tamirindo in Guanacaste.
Great Hidden gem we stayed in, while
speaking in the Santa Cruz Branch

When Sister Pete got up early Sunday morn, there were
Howler monkeys outside, so she Facetimed our
granddaughters so they could see.  Oh technology...

The Canas branch in Guanacaste where we had the 2nd
workshop of the day on Sunday July 6

Probably the prettiest drive of many so far from Canas over mountains
to Lake Arenal and Volcon Arenal.

I always have to stop at the waterfalls, of which there are many.

Overlooking Lago Arenal

A toucan at Toad Hall (A place that had
great advertising but it was more or less a beer
joint). We won't feel compelled to
return, ever.

Volcano Arenal in the distance

The flowers at Arenal Sky Walk were breathtaking.

Even after losing to Holland, the Country celebrated their
historic run at the World Cup and welcomed their
team home with great fanfare. I don't think the Pope would
have been received  as well. That's no fault of his, the Ticos just
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR FUTBOL TEAM!!

The skies continue to amaze.  This is one of many
rotundas (huge round-a-bouts), we have to maneuver every day.

On the way to Savegre River to fly fish.
Yep, to those that know me well,
YES, I actually went fishing.

This is picture of a windmill in the mist, but
the mist covered it up.

The road to Rio Savegre was worth the 2 hour ride!

The river, trail, and waterfalls
had me calling this "Johnston Canyon Sur"!
(Johnston Canyon is in Canada)
Wow what an amazing beautiful day...

This was a small Waterfall back in a cave under the
main waterfall.  Ryan you've got to come see this!

This bridge had a sign "Capacity 3"

This pretty Bridal Veil Fall was just off the side of main one, below

Breathtaking

This is Elder Coleman from Riverton, Utah.
He was my tutor this day. He & Hermana
Coleman have become our good friends.
They serve in the Mission Home.

This little bird (come on..use your imagination) walked with us both ways
letting us get within a foot or two before scurrying up the trail and waiting
for us.

Everywhere looked incredibly beautiful;
the Spanish moss, bamboo etc.

Oh yes, I did fish a bit...pretty little rainbow trout
Elder Coleman caught 5.

  1. I think we're going to be hearing (for a LONG time) that Costa Rica is the absolute best mission based on your stories and pics.
