More August 2014 Memories

In August the mission got around 30 new Elders and Hermanas, mostly North
Americans. Hna.Pete took many great fotos on that day, but accidentally deleted every one of them!

The Chaverri's at the Los Yoses Chapel 50th Anniversary.  He was the Area Seventy,
the Mission First Counselor with Melanie and Jeff and recently called as Temple President
in El Salvador.

Nine year old Diana from Cartago is amazing, & dreams of being a journalist but
we think someday she'll be President.  Her public speaking has been on the
National News TV stations.

The Los Yoses Chapel was the first built in Costa Rica & dedicated in August
1964 when there were only 400 members in the country.  We really enjoyed the celebrations honoring the
original members, and their memories of "old days" when the Church was in its
infancy.  9 year old Diana (above) gave the "keynote address".

Dr Cragun (Central American M.D.,from Virginia) oversees 4000+ missionaries in Central America.
He, his wife & the 3 mission Nurses (Garner, Petersen & Markel) are pictured here.  The Craguns came from Guatemala
to present info.to all the C.R.missionaries about how to stay healthy,, during Zone Conferences.

We celebrated with Gabby, her recent baptism in the Morovia Ward, Toyopan Stake
by going out to eat at Chili's.

We went to give a workshop at the JAS Conference (YSA) in Guanacaste at African
Safari Adventure Park.  Pres. Patey in middle above (1st Counselor in La Sabana Stake)
recently acquired it. We think of the movie "We Bought A Zoo" whenever we go there!
Stake President Angulo, wife and daughter went with us as Pres. Patey gave us private
guided tour of the Waterfalls.

This is President Quirroz, 2nd counselor in La Sabana Stake feeding a giraffe!
He's is such a riot and reminds me of Marcos Martinez, our good friend back home.

Thru God's tender mercies we met Daisy (friends of Melanie's) and her family when talking at Los Yoses Ward.
She is from La Campinas Ward but son Daniel was helping us hand out flyers, saw our names,
put it all together that we were Melanie's parents and called his mom, who promptly left her ward and
came to meet us with other son David!.
JAS (YSA) Conference held here at end of August.

We gave 6 Hermanas a ride from the Mission Office to
the Mission Home.   They were just happy to not have to walk the mile or so.
